Frequently Asked Questions
What is window film?
Window Film is a micro-thin polyester material that gives you plenty of sunlight with less of the sun's heat and UV rays. Applied to the interior of your windows, the film is an invisible "solar shield" that can reject up to 80% of the sun's heat. In summer, your home is cooler and more comfortable, so you save on energy bills. In winter, films contain heat for year round comfort.
Will it stop my furnishings from fading?
Actually, nothing will completely stop colors from fading and in fact, if someone tells you different please let us know and we will explain the scientific reasons why! However, our window films stop over 99% of the damaging Ultraviolet rays. This will slow down the fading process and help prolong the life of your furniture, hardwood floors, drapes, and other sensitive home furnishings.
Is window film expensive?
No, the average installation costs less than most other window treatments. In fact, your window film will return your investment quickly through reduced utility costs and increased longevity of your interior furnishings. Not to mention the increased overall comfort and reduced glare.
Will it reduce heat coming in through windows?

Will it help me see my television/computer?
Yes, window films greatly reduce glare caused by sunlight on televisions and computers.
Is film hard to clean?
No, window film is almost maintenance free! It has a scratch resistant coating and can be cleaned with any home cleaning products including ammonia based cleaners such as Windex® or Glass Plus®.
How long will my film last?
Your film is made with a process called sputtering whereby metal is mixed with polyester to create a high performance film that is warranted for as long as you own your home. This Lifetime warranty includes both labor and material. Commercial applications are warranted for either 10 or 15 years depending on the product selected.
Will it work at night?
All window films work on the same basic principle: Visible light is most intense on the reflective side of glass. This is why you can see inside mirrored office buildings at nighttime. Sucscape Select films are designed to reduce back shine and interior reflectivity from the inside of your home during nighttime hours. The Madico Advanced Ceramic line is the only film series that does not have the nighttime reflectivity of conventional films.
Is window film safe for dual pane or insulated low e glass windows?
Yes, Custom Solar Control will only offer films that are thermal safe and made specifically for these types of windows.
